Long range inhibition of matrix metalloproteases by TenderWet superabsorber-1
The picture shows the results. On the left panel the white bands clearly indicate MMP activity in chronic wound fluid.

The panel in the middle shows drastically reduced MMP activity when TenderWet superabsorbent particles were present but physically separated from the wound fluid proteins (containing MMPs).

Ant the right panel shows that MMP activity is completely bocked with the most potent inhibitor for MMPs (EDTA which is toxic to cells).
Please note that in all tree panels the same amount of chronic wound fluid was analyzed. These results suggest
that MMPs can be present but they do not function properly anymore. Most importantly, this inhibition works over large distances.

Long range inhibition of matrix metalloproteases by TenderWet superabsorber-1
Matrix metalloportease inhibition in wound fluid over long distances
In each of the three panels the identical amouts of the same chronic wound fluid were analyzed. MMP activity is strongly reduced by TenderWet superabsorbent particles when direct physical contact was excluded.
