All this said one would wish to inhibit matrix metalloproteases so that the chronic wound can get a rest and can recover. If successful the wound could start to deposit more connective tissue, granulation tissue would appear and eventually wound healing would get back on track.

TenderWet is very active at cleansing wounds, a stage where MMP-levels are supposedly very high. TenderWet also stimulates granulation tissue formation which makes the dressing an attractive candidate for further studies.

And indeed, initial experiments suggested that TenderWet - most of all the special polyacrylate superabsorber inside - might be extremely powerful at inhibiting matrix metalloproteases.
