The three phases of wound healing overlap. At the wound margins adjacent to normal tissue wound healing is further advanced than in the center of wound.

So, all three phases may co-exist in a wound at any given time.

The three wound healing phases can overlap. Some parts are already building-up new granulation tissue while other more central parts are still inflamed.
